LL Dent to Commemorate Its 8th Anniversary on February 16

(Carle Place, NY) — On February 16, LL Dent Restaurant will be celebrating eight years of serving Southern-style cuisine to Long Island customers. Guests are welcome to join the LL Dent staff to celebrate their eighth anniversary of the restaurant’s opening. LL Dent is located at 221 Old Country Road in Carle Place.

Co-owners Lillian Dent and her daughter, Chef Leisa Dent, provide traditional American cuisine with a Southern-style twist to guests at their Nassau County establishment. Set in an environment reminiscent of a Southern dining room, LL Dent’s authenticity is only surpassed by its hospitality. Opening a restaurant and serving unique dishes to Long Island customers has been a long-time dream for both Lillian and her daughter.

Lillian and her husband Toby moved to New York from Evans, Georgia with their two children. When the children attended grade school, Lillian would make them a large, hot breakfast every morning to ensure that they were ready for the day. Her daughter, Leisa became inspired by Lillian’s delicious meals and decided to take on cooking as a hobby at 10 years old. After many years of contemplating career paths, Leisa decided to give the Long Island restaurant industry a chance. When she initially entered the business, she began working at small, local restaurants on Long Island. Subsequently, Leisa acquired a job as Personal Chef for a childhood friend, Eddie Murphy, in New Jersey and California. Eventually, Leisa returned to Long Island to pursue her goal of earning her Associate’s Degree at the Culinary Institute of America, which led her to achieve yet another goal of opening a Southern-style restaurant with her family in the heart of Nassau County.

The LL Dent menu features a variety of well-known southern classics that Chef Leisa has perfected over the years, such as fried chicken and waffles, pulled pork, fried catfish, and homemade cornbread. The restaurant also offers specials such as a Sunday Brunch Buffet and a Tuesday Night Buffet, so their customers can enjoy a bit of each homemade dish.

“We would like to thank our guests who have supported the restaurant for the past eight years,” said Lillian Dent, Co-Owner, LL Dent. “It is so rewarding to serve Southern-style dishes to our customers, who have also become our close friends over the years. Our patrons truly mean the world to us and I can’t wait to share many more memories with them in the years to come.”

LL Dent Restaurant Offers Tuesday Buffet Nights

Buffet Will Have A Different Theme Each Week

(Carle Place, NY) — LL Dent Restaurant is inviting everyone to come down and dine in during their new Tuesday Buffet Nights, beginning on February 11, for only $19.95. This special is only available on Tuesday nights and will allow guests to try new, unique dishes from LL Dent. A full dinner menu will also be available.

Tuesday nights will be a special time that customers can indulge in some of LL Dent’s family recipes for a fixed price, with a different theme each week. In celebration of New Orleans’ “Fat Tuesday,” Tuesday nights in February and March will be Cajun-themed, featuring popular southern specialties such as Gumbo, Chicken Etouffee, Mustard Greens, Dirty Rice, Baked Squash Au Gratin, Choux Rouge and Turnip Mashed Potatoes.

“Fat Tuesday,” better known as the French term “Mardi Gras,” is an annual worldwide celebration that takes place the day before Ash Wednesday, when the 40 days of fasting — also known in the Christian tradition as Lent — begin. Those who celebrate “Fat Tuesday” indulge in an immense amount of food that they cannot consume during Lent, such as meat. Today, it’s a popular New Orleans tradition in which dancers, musicians, and revelers march down Bourbon Street and traditional Cajun dishes are served.

The dinner buffet will be served by LL Dent’s staff, similar to its Sunday brunch buffet. “We are happy to announce our new weekly buffet special that will allow customers to try a wide variety of our unique Cajun dishes and a few of our popular dishes from the regular menu,” says Lillian Dent, Co-Owner, LL Dent. “We encourage everyone to come down and get a taste of our Cajun-style meals. This shows you don’t have to travel to Louisiana to enjoy this unique cuisine.”

BrickHouse Brewery Offers New Holiday Brew with Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company: “Main Street Mocha Porter”

(Patchogue, NY)— BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant is proud to announce its collaboration with Patchogue’s Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company for the third year to create a new, festive beer for the holiday season, complete with a mocha finish. “Main Street Mocha Porter” will be ready for customers to enjoy during the week of Christmas.

The creamy, chocolate-caramel brew is comprised of a strong porter beer, organic cocoa from Ecuador, and two types of coffee—Santa Rita from El Salvador and a Brazilian blend.  The idea was derived from suggestions by the BrickHouse’s newest brewmaster and brewer, Arthur Zimmerman and Paul Komsic, respectively. Mr. Zimmerman originally wanted to create a coffee beer and Mr. Komsic wanted to make a chocolate brew, which led them to combine their ideas for this innovative holiday creation. “I loved partnering with Roast on this holiday concoction. We had a great time as we shared different ideas that contributed ultimately to the recipe of the brew,” says Mr. Zimmerman.

Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Komsic met with Tiffany Rivera, Manager of Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company a few weeks ago to try different types of coffee flavors that could be mixed with a porter beer. In order to identify the perfect flavor, Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Komsic knew they had to choose a coffee with low acidity to enhance the sweet flavor of the beer. After many trials, Mr. Zimmerman, Mr. Komsic and Ms. Rivera decided to use a blend of two types of coffee to combine with the beer. The joint taste of the Brazilian and the Santa Rita created the ideal coffee flavor for the “Main Street Mocha Porter.” From there, the brewers began infusing ten barrels of beer, 12 pounds of coffee, and three kilograms of pure cocoa to prepare for fermentation.

“We knew this was going to be a great experience and that we’d end up with a tasty brew. When Arthur and I get together, two heads are better than one,” Mr. Komsic stated. Now, BrickHouse employees cannot wait to share the deliciousness of their new holiday beer with its customers. The medium-bodied beer, combined with the honey-caramel malt flavor, coffee, and dark chocolate aromas is sure to be a hit. Be sure not to miss its debut over the holidays.

“We enjoy partnering with Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company each year to create a unique beer-coffee brew that our customers can indulge in,” says Maud Franklin, General Manager, BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant. Working with other local businesses in Patchogue is a pleasure and gives us great joy. We cannot wait to hear the reviews from our customers about ‘Main Street Mocha Porter’.”

BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant Welcomes New Brewmaster and Assistant Brewer

(Patchogue, NY) — BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant is proud to announce Arthur Zimmerman and Paul Komsic have joined the establishment as its new Brewmaster and Assistant Brewer, respectively. Both men have a passion for craft beer that aroused years ago by conducting their own experiments.

Mr. Zimmerman grew up in Colorado and began brewing in college by experimenting with various types of beer and developing his own flavors. After graduation, Mr. Zimmerman landed a job at a small, local brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado called Funkwerks. He worked at Funkwerks for two years and gained a great deal of experience by learning how to brew alongside professionals and testing the mixture of countless flavors.

After discovering that brewing was his passion in life, Mr. Zimmerman decided to enroll in the Master Brewers Program at the University of California at Davis to learn more about the science of making craft beer. Following the completion of his degree, he was briefly employed at Avery Brewing in Boulder. While working at Avery, Mr. Zimmerman heard about BrickHouse’s Brewmaster opening and knew he wanted to work there to share his love and creativity for eccentric beers with the Patchogue community.

Mr. Komsic was searching for a new hobby in 2007. He decided to try brewing in his Queens home after researching and planning innovative flavors. Mr. Komsic was impressed by his newly acquired brewing skills, which led him to host parties that offered his very own crafted beers. He then discovered that brewing was his true passion and applied for a job at BrickHouse.

Mr. Komsic gladly took a position as an assistant chef at the BrickHouse. He came one step closer to brewing every day as he assisted the former Brewmaster with chores in the brewhouse, before and after he finished his daily kitchen shift. After three years of learning daily duties from BrickHouse’s former Brewmaster, Mr. Komsic finally landed his dream job as an Assistant Brewer.

“It is our honor to welcome Arthur and Paul to our team in our efforts to execute our mission of brewing unique beers and sharing them with the public,” says Maud Franklin, General Manager, BrickHouse Brewery. “Their talent and passion for craft beer will enhance our brewery and introduce a host of new flavors and brews.”

Ben’s Makes It Easy for Nonprofits to Raise Funds

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — As part of its efforts to support local community organizations, Ben’s Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers is reminding local non-profit groups that they can hold their next event at one of Ben’s six locations to help raise funds for the organization.

Those who wish to plan an event at Ben’s must do so at least 30 days in advance. A Ben’s general manager will provide the organization with flyers to help publicize the event. Ben’s will tally all the purchases made and determine the amount to be donated to the group. The nonprofit will then receive a check from Ben’s two weeks after the fundraiser.

Participating organizations can enjoy Ben’s famous soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts while raising money. For example, a bowl of matzo ball soup can earn nonprofits up to 72 cents. A corned beef sandwich means they will see $1.05 to $1.57 go back to them.

Ben’s has a history of supporting local community organizations. Its Founder and Owner, Ronnie Dragoon, is a member of The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) and has raised money for the organization with The Olde Time New York Deli Experience at its Greenvale location, and its Day of Thanks and Giving. These events raise over $30,000 annually combined for The INN and its programs.

“From our earliest years in the business, we have tried to give back to the communities we serve, but it is very difficult to do that, considering the demand that you are confronted with,” Mr. Dragoon says. “This program allows us to help so many more community organizations raise the money they desperately need.”

Groups who book their events at Ben’s can earn 10% to 15% of all food and beverage purchases. Catering and take-out orders are also eligible towards these purchases. To book a fundraiser, contact the General Manager at these Ben’s locations:
