New Chef Brings Fine Dining to BrickHouse Brewery

Patchogue, New York – Phil Capobianco has recently been named the new executive chef at BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant (BHB) located on Main Street in Patchogue. Graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Capobianco, plans on taking BHB’s menu to a new level. His ideas include enhancing the look and flavor of BHB’s staple dishes, while adding some new signature food items that bring in all different types of flavors.

Chef Capobianco has an extensive and impressive resume. In the beginning of his career, he was the chef at Arcimboldo, an Italian style New York City restaurant. He then traveled to Rome, Italy, where he worked at Le Sans Souci, a French-Italian bistro. He has also worked at several local restaurants, most recently as Executive Chef at Pace’s Steakhouse in Hauppauge.

While helping to build the new menu, Chef Capobianco wanted to bring fine dining to the customers of BHB. This new menu will feature more visually appealing dishes with a wider range of flavors. Chef Capobianco also plans on adding several Asian-Creole-fusion seafood dishes to really diversify the menu.

“BrickHouse is really well known for their beers and my goal is to bring their food up to that level,” Chef Capobianco, states. “With the new menu and renovated dining area, BrickHouse isn’t just a pub anymore, it’s a place people can go to for a fine dining experience.”

Two dishes Chef Capobianco recommends include the Surf & Turf and Coconut Salmon. The Surf & Turf entrée features filet mignon paired with a cold-water lobster tail, served with Yukon gold smashed potatoes and wilted spinach. The Coconut Salmon, a lighter option, includes a pan-fried salmon crusted in coconut flakes, served over toasted almond sticky rice and topped with mango chutney buerre blanc.

About The Lobster Roll Amagansett

The Lobster Roll was purchased in 1965 by Frederick H. Terry, Senior, and his Dad, Richard C. Terry Senior, when it was a tiny roadside clam shack on the Napeague stretch. In 1978, Andrea Anthony joined forces with Fred and, three years later, Paul DeAngelis came on board. Nearly five decades after opening, Andrea and Paul (both former restaurant management professors) maintain current ownership and management operations of this busy summer eatery.

Ben’s Top’t Dogs Are Back

[Greenvale, New York] – Next month, Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen, Restaurant and Caterers will be bringing back its Top’t Dogs menu. This year, Ben’s is offering six different Top’t Dog options – the six favorites of last year. These original hot dog recipes will be available at all Ben’s locations, but only for the month of July.

The toppings on these hot dogs were inspired by some of the biggest flavor capitals in the country. From The California Dreamin’, which fills your mouth with delicious avocados, to The NY Fiver, which holds two franks and three toppings, you can’t go wrong. In addition, each Ben’s Top’t Dog Combo comes complete with a bottomless fountain beverage and a side of your choice.

This collection exclusively features Hebrew National brand hot dogs. Side options include fresh-cut fries, potato pancake, round potato knish and old-fashioned square knish. All Top’t Dogs can be upgraded to feature a homemade pretzel bun for just 99 cents, and additional side dishes of fresh guacamole or vegetarian chili can also be added for a nominal price. For those who are 21 and over, the fountain beverage can be upgraded to one bottle of cold domestic or imported beer, for an additional cost.

A description of each Ben’s Top’t Dog can be found below:

Best of Boston ($12.99): generous portion of baked beans and crispy onion straws, on a brioche bun.
Chili Dog ($13.99): heaping amount of vegetarian chili and fresh chopped onions, on a brioche bun.
Ben’s Deli Dog ($13.99): choice of corned beef or pastrami, topped with warm sauerkraut, on a baguette; Russian dressing optional. Upgrade to BOTH corned beef and pastrami for $3 more.
California Dreamin’ ($13.99): mound of homemade Israeli salad, garnished with sliced avocado, on a brioche bun
Philadelphia Double Dog ($15.99): two franks topped with sautéed beef and a pile of peppers and onions, on a garlic bread roll
The NY Fiver ($15.99): two hot dogs topped with three toppings from New York’s ubiquitous street carts – sauerkraut, tangy onion and sweet green relish, on a chewy pretzel bun

Ben’s of Bayside Renovation Celebration

Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers is excited to unveil the final phase of renovations at the company’s Bayside location, its second rehab since opening in 1994. As part of the update, Ben’s Founder/Owner, Ronnie Dragoon, opted to upgrade the bathrooms and furniture, reclaim the terrazzo flooring, lay new carpet and paint the entire restaurant – including the ceilings. Though not visible to customers, the restaurant’s “back of the house” (the kitchen) was also rehabilitated.

While a majority of the construction work took place while Ben’s was closed during the eight days of Passover, renovations continued throughout the subsequent weeks. As with any renovation, there were, of course, some bumps in the road – delayed delivery of furniture and red outlet covers and water damage to a wall that required a replacement of mirrors – but it was all worth it in the end.

With final restoration of Ben’s of Bayside now complete, the company is lighting up the charcoal and grilling up BBQ favorites for a celebratory Memorial Day BBQ “unveiling” event on Monday, May 29, from noon to 8 p.m. During the celebration, guests will be treated to their choice of Ben’s “All American BBQ,” “Chicken Lovers BBQ” or “Steak Lovers BBQ” options, which all come complete with potato salad and coleslaw, pickles, a corn cobette, sliced watermelon and unlimited fountain beverages.

For those who want to get a sneak peak of Bayside’s new look before Memorial Day, Ben’s is also hosting its next installment of Latkes & Laughs at the restaurant on Saturday, May 20. This dinner and stand-up comedy show event includes a prix fixe dinner with dessert and fountain beverage, as well as the humorous entertainment of Chuck Fox, Ellen Karis and Jim Mendrinos.

What’s more, all visitors will have the opportunity to test out Ben’s new “Grandma’s Chicken Soup” recipe, which is available ONLY at Ben’s of Bayside. Try a bowl for $7.99, or add a Matzo Ball or Kreplach for $1.

Celebrate National Burger Month at Ben’s

May is National Burger Month and, in celebration, Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers has put together a special burger menu that’s sure to please the taste buds. From a classic Ben’s favorite, the “Big Ben,” which features grilled pastrami, onion rings and chipotle mayo, to a unique combo of burger, knockwurst and sauerkraut dubbed the “Knocked Up,” there’s something for everyone on the Ben’s Burger Menu. Not ready to commit to just one? The Ben’s Burger Menu is available from May 1 to May 31, which means there’s time to try all 11 combinations (33 when tallied with beef, turkey or veggie burger options).

Ben’s believes that better beef makes a better burger so, like all Ben’s burgers, the special Burger Month burgers feature a half-pound of fresh, never frozen, USDA Kosher beef that is ground right in the store. Burgers are hand-formed, grilled to order and served on a brioche bun with Ben’s famous fresh-cut fries or a homemade knish. Everyone knows that Ben’s is home to the best corned beef and pastrami around, but Ben’s burgers are a force to be reckoned with, and are never pre-formed or pre-processed like at many other dining establishments. What’s more, many of the topping are homemade, some are unique to our delicatessen heritage and all are fresh.

In addition to the Knocked Up and Big Ben burgers, the company’s special Burger Month Menu includes the “Breakfast Burger” – complete with fried egg and crispy smoked turkey, and the “Salami Burger” – topped with tangy, grilled Hebrew National salami. Also featured are the “Beefstrami Burger” – a blend of ground beef and pastrami, topped with pickle chips, coleslaw and Russian dressing; and the “Coney Island Burger,” served with sautéed onions between two halves of a square knish with a side of baked beans.

Rounding out the lineup are the “BBQ Brisket Burger” – topped with sliced brisket and barbecue sauce; the “Chili Burger” – topped with chili and red onions; and the “California Burger” – topped with Israeli salad and sliced avocado; as well as the “Sliders” – which includes two mini burgers on challah rolls with crispy onions and horseradish sauce.

Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers special Burger Month Menu is available May 1 to May 31 at all seven locations – Bayside, Manhattan, Carle Place, Greenvale, Scarsdale and Woodbury, New York, and Boca Raton, Florida. For more information regarding Ben’s, visit www.bensdeli.net.

Don’t Pass Over Ben’s Catered Holiday Dinner

Are you tired of cooking and long hours of preparation for holiday meals? Well, you’re in luck! Pass over the stress this April with Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers holiday dinner. Celebrate freedom with our mouthwatering gefilte fish, delicious matzo ball soup, fresh-cut coleslaw and more.

Passover commemorates the exodus of the Jews from slavery in Egypt. The holiday originated in the Torah, where the word pesach refers to the ancient Passover sacrifice. This is ultimately a celebration of freedom, and the story of the exodus from Egypt is a powerful metaphor appreciated not only by Jews, but by people of other faiths as well.

During the entire duration of the holiday, it is forbidden to eat dough, bread or leavened food products. This is because the Jewish tradition states that in their rush to escape from Egypt, the Jews did not have enough time to wait for bread to rise. Instead, they ate matzah, bread that did not rise. Many Jews have special Passover dishes that are only used once a year during the holiday.

Ben’s Complete Holiday Dinner for 10 comes with 10 pieces of gefilte fish, one quart of chopped liver, four quarts of their renowned chicken soup, and 12 matzo balls. The package also offers a choice of three entrées — five roast chickens, a whole roast turkey or four pounds of sliced brisket — a choice of two side dishes like broccoli almandine, sweet potato pudding and much more. Dessert includes Ben’s macaroons and, for an added $29.99, a fruit salad bowl.

In observance of Passover Ben’s is closed from Monday, April 10th to April 18th and will be re-opening Wednesday, April 19th.

Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers has locations in Bayside, Manhattan, Carle Place, Greenvale, Scarsdale and Woodbury, New York, and Boca Raton, Florida. For more information regarding Ben’s, visit www.bensdeli.net.
